| Bio: | A little about me? Hmmmm, I am a walking contradiction, a conservative who is probably far more libral in some regards than I care to admit. I am a jack of all trades, but I don't claim to be a master of any of them, close in several, but not quite there yet. I am an all American mutt- a mix of Ojibwe, Mi'maq, Irish, English and French ancestory. I rarely own up to the French part :P My beliefs are a mix of Native American, pre-x-tian Irish and an odd assortment of Judaic laws and customs.  see more crazy cat pics In addition to the pursuit of my education I have tried out many different jobs or professions some include: the Army, retail sales, childcare (which permanently put me off from ever wanting to spawn any of my own), food service (both as a server and as a cook), computer software and hardware consultant, EMT / volunteer firefighter, tutor (for both high school and college courses), and something I still do in my spare time, writing college papers (in the subjects English, history and spanish) for those too lazy and or stupid to write their own (great money in this, especially from student athletes). Someday I figure I will find out what I enjoy doing the most and stick with it. I am also working on two novels, but they are more for fun than anything else, maybe they will be published someday, maybe not. It would be a grand thing though, to be able to make a living by writing. Love reading and writing. LJ is pretty much for my fanfiction, but if you are interested in my original work, let me know. I keep most of my stuff at writing.com. I will read just about anything with print, but my favorite genres are historical non-fiction, historical fiction, alternate history (see a pattern here LOL), humor, biography, and some science fiction and fantasy. Here is a list of books that I consider 'Must Reads': 1. Trinity by Leon Uris 2. Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett 3. World Without End (a sort of sequel to Pillars of the Earth, so read Pillars of the Earth first) by Ken Follett 4. Making History by Stephen Fry 5. 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus by Charles C. Mann 6. The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie 7. The Ode Less Travelled: Unlocking the Poet Within by Stephen Fry 8. The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail by Baigent, Leigh, and Lincoln 9. History Upside Down: The Roots of Palestinian Facism and the Myth of Israeli Agression by David Meir-Levi 10. Survival in Auschwitz by Primo Levi 11. Irish Freedom: The History of Nationalism in Ireland by Richard English (The irony of the last name of the author is a beautiful thing) 12. Michael Collins and The Troubles: The Struggle for Irish Freedom 1912-1922 by Ulick O'Connor 13. Any of Harry Turtledove's alternate history books. Even the series about WWII that adds some sci-fi to the mix with the arrival of an alien race looking to conquer earth. 14. The Jamie and Claire and Lord Grey series by Diana Gabladon 15. Anything by Jack Whyte. His take on the Aurthurian Legends are brilliant. 16. Hood by Stephen Lawhead 17. The Silverhand series by Stephen Lawhead. 18. Good Omens by Neil Gaimon and Terry Pratchett 19. The Disc-World series by Terry Pratchett 20. The Complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams- great read, but don't miss out on the audio book which is read by Stephen Fry. Currently reading John Adams by David McCullough. I haven't finished it yet, but when I do it is going on the list above. I will also have to check out what else this author has written. Oh yes. Before I forget, in addition to my beliefs as outlined earlier, Stephen Fry is God. Plain and fucking simple. Computer games that I am currently addicted to include: Guild Wars, WoW- yes, I have gone back to it, AGAIN, games at pogo.com, Age of Empires III, Civilisation IV, rp'ing in chat and on LJ (so it kind of counts as a computer game, yes?) TV Shows I am currently addicted to (not all are still aired or produced): NCIS, House, Bones, JAG, CSI (the original and occasionally NY), Dr. Who, Torchwood, The Graham Norton Show, MI-5, Are You Being Served?, Kingdom (w/ Stephen Fry), QI, ABOFAL, Jeeves and Wooster, Black Books, Battlestar Galactica (the new version), the original Star Trek (although I do enjoy The Next Generation as well. Not so much on the others), Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (both UK and US versions), Hell's Kitchen, Wire in the Blood, New Amsterdam, Jeremiah to name a few.
